On the Road!

We are mobile! 

Since July 17, I can proudly call myself the car owner. 

So, what did we get? It is a Mazda Tribute built-in 2001, V6 with 4WD with something like 255.000 km on the clock.

Believe it or not, it is my first car ever. You wonder why? Well, I lived in cities with proper public transportation networks. It is as simple as that, I never needed one really. But for Australia, we wanted to have 4 wheels to discover the country. My ambitious goal is to make a circle around the continent. Let us see how far we get! As I see this car as a travel companion, we hold a little naming ceremony to give our vehicle a name. It is now officially known as Skippy!

This wouldn't have been possible without Fabien, a young German backpacker who just left Australia and was in desperate need to get rid of his car and we were in desperate need to find one. Fabien, I have to thank you at this point how much effort, time and money you put into all of this to get everything fixed in order to be able to sell us a proper car. Kadri and I are really pleased with the car.

We have made other experience and some backpackers lack this motivation.

We left Melbourne, our super host and super dogs on Thursday, July 18. We drove up to Shepparton, made a two night stop there, continued then to Wodonga/Albury and stopped there for another 4 nights and yesterday evening, we arrived in Canberra. So far, we must have driven around 700km already. Pictures from our stops in between will come soon. Stay tuned!
